MINIONS!

Hey guys!

It's NOVEMBERRRR! :D Just one month away from Christmas, I'm SO EXCITED! October flew by in the blink of an eye!

I'm back with a cooool post :P it's got nothin' to do with makeup or beauty or fashion or whatever. It's all about MINIONS today!:)

So recently, I saw a picture on how to make fondant minions on Facebook. My mom, my older sister and I decided to give it a go thinking hey, we might be able to make good minions, y'know. Our first attempt was pretty good (pretty good for us first timers!), we made cute and dorky minions out of store-bought colored fondant. It didn't look exactly like a minion of course, but our minions did look like minions (if that made sense). I took a few pictures with my iTouch so the quality ain't good, but here's how the first attempt Minions looked like.
This one's a grumpy one :P
We decided to paint the goggles with black paint because Minions don't wear blue goggles!

My older sister about to paint the eyeballs white.
This was the final product of our first attempt/ first batch minions...
This isn't a good picture but it's all that I took when we were done making it, so apologies for such a bad picture :P
We were quite happy and excited that we had accomplished making Fondant minions and quite good ones too for our first attempt but we were so disappointed as the whole thing turned out to be a complete FAILLLL.

For starters the paint didn't dry and smudged all over the fondant and we didn't know how to harden the fondant so it...melted :'( so we had to say goodbye to our first batch Minions...

But we didn't want to give up so easily, so Mom came up with an idea to buy a chunk of ready-made white fondant and using food coloring, we could turn the white fondant in to whatever colors we wanted. It was a brilliant plan indeed. Mom, my sister and I then started up the Minion factory again yesterday.

Things you need to make an edible Minion :D : We got ready 3 food colorings: Blue (for the clothes), Yellow (for it's body and hands) and Brown (for its goggles...the actual Minions in the movie wears metal rimmed goggles but we just decided to go for all-brown goggles.)
Some ready made white fondant from the baking store.
Some carving/shaping tools.

So Mom mixed and made yellow fondant, blue fondant, and that chunk of brown fondant in the left lower corner of the picture below (looks more like a block of minion poop :p) We also set aside a chunk of white fondant too for the minions' eyeballs, can't have no blind minions :)

We made shaped the yellow fondant into round cylinder shapes for the body of the Minion. And using the blue fondant we made clothes to go with the body, we don't want no nude minions xP We used a reference picture of the original minions in the movie to imitate how the clothes should look like.

My older sister, Rachel, was the first to create eyes for her minion. WHAZZAM, 3D literally eye popping eyes :P for a minute there, her minion looked more of like Bart Simpson than a minion.
Look at that eye go...bulging out. That's not we want. We flattened it out in the end, to go with the goggles. I have a feeling she just made such HUGE eyes as a joke or a prank, my sister can be such a jokester xD
Rachel's small yet creative hands can do wonders and make such fine details so Mom ordered her to make sort of like denim stitches(?) around the clothes for a detailed look :)
She added straps and a pocket in the middle too :) EEP! This photo isn't really focused properly, apologies :)
~

FINAL PRODUCT! :D Meet the FONDANT Minion family! Group pic for our little creatures :)
What do you think? What do you think? :D
Okay, so they're not very pretty but they are COOOTE! and insanely hilarious. Mom, Rachel and I couldn't stop giggling while making them.
We made 6 little sugar minions in total :)
Here's more random pictures I took of our creation:

This one's my favorite for some reason. I made the teeth, and it's definitely not perfect, it's extremely hard to make  perfect white teeth using fondant (plus I ain't a professional). I like how its expression turned out. Mom made its eye 'half' opened'. It looks like a dirty minded minion for a second but I think it's just plain cute and funny xD

~
This little one unfortunately has no mouth :X But hey it turned out cute that way :p I made its clothes a tad too big which resulted in a small space to build its face, all we could fit in was its goggles and eyes :p oops!
~
Here's Little Happy Minion ;) Its so round, its so cute, its so happy, sigh, it makes me happy xD  But I just noticed that it has a missing arm on the right, oops! HAHA!
~
This one looks clueless. OOH!
~
Stole this picture from my sister's Instagram. This is the most craziest, hilarious , and absurd minion we have  ever made !
This minion was not intended to be made this way. I was assigned to create and make the mouth however I liked, unfortunately I failed in doing so and I tried to pull or dig out the whole mouth to re-do it but the brown fondant got stuck and made a mess! So I came up with a crazy but effective idea to carve out a chocolate bar out of brown fondant and make it look as if the minion ate a mouthful of chocolate and went high xD
~
This one's sinking into its outfit xD And its grumpy too. But I love its shape and size, petit and plum!
~
A final group picture before I end this blogpost!

That's it for my Minion blogpost! :D I hope you enjoyed reading about my Fondant Minion making experience. Definitely recommend for people out there to give it a go! I had loads of fun making them with my Mother and older sister. We laughed alot in the process of forming and designing these cuties! I think its way more fun to make them than to eat them. Our creations weren't exact or precise or fantastic or whatever but I think it's a bunch of quirky, funny, and extremely cute minions!

Hugs and Kisses!

Show and Tell: Last Day of October Edition

Hello there!

It's the last day of October! The month of October flew by in the blink of an eye, I can't believe we're so close to Christmas and the end of the year already! I'm excited for Christmas, in fact, I'm already in the Christmas mood (it came early this year :p). Anyway, I spent the last day of October on a girls day out with my Mommy dearest and my older sister.

We went shopping!
Here's what I got...

Doorknob -.-"

Mother bought me a lovely dress today, she got it for RM55 at the market behind our house. I love it! I personally don't wear dresses that often, I prefer t-shirts and jeans over dresses. But I can't say no to vintage and simple dresses like this one. I have a thing for simple, classic, elegant, vintage and authentic clothing; and I think this fits into my criteria. The fabric is nice and comfortable too, it's probably not the best quality but to me the most important thing is that it's comfortable.
Here's how it looks like at the back. It has a lovely little black ribbon you can tie at the back.

I love the floral print and the color, very classic and simple :)

~

Here's what I got from the mall :)...

First, we stopped by the newly opened H&M store at Lot 10. It was our first time visiting the store. My first impression on the store: it's nice and huge, I like how there's 3 floors. The
clothes are nice but they do seem a bit old too...many of the clothes looked worn out and had lint on them...let's just say, the clothes aren't very presentable. But overall, I do like the store quite enough :P  Here's what we got!

The only thing that I got from H&M was this knitted beret (honestly I'm not sure what it's called...I think it's a beret or a beanie. But if you know the actual name of this hat, do let me know. I'm not very good in fashion as you can tell). I bought it for RM29.90, which I think is pretty worth the price because it feels and looks like it's good quality :P What am I SAYING? Anyway, I'm happy we got it.
I managed to convince my sister to be the model of this picture. Here's how the beret looks like.

It's a dark blue in color, it's not pure dark blue though, it sorta has a greenish color to it too. You can't really tell in the picture but it does look dark greenish-blueish in person. I'm bad in describing colors :(

When we were about to leave the store, the sky started pouring -.-" And we didn't bring an umbrella along with us, wonderful! We decided to purchase an umbrella from the store. It was definitely pricey for an umbrella, it costs RM29.90 for one. But I'm glad we got this because, ohmygosh, isn't it pretty? :D

It's beautiful and lightweight too, I hate heavy bulky umbrellas that are hard to hold or carry around but this is not heavy at all.

My sister did get 2 dresses from H&M but NO PICTURES! She refused to model for me :(

~

And of course, I couldn't return home without stopping by Etude House! :) I managed to refrain myself from doing any heavy shopping :P All I got was this Proof 10 Eye Primer. Before purchasing this, I never owned an eyeshadow primer, so this would be my very first eye primer. I'm quite excited to try this out, I hope it works well ;)

This is how it looks like :)

The nice saleslady threw in a few samples for me to try out. A couple of BB creams, a couple of their SUN BB Creams which I'm assuming is a new product?  I don't know but I'm excited to try them out. Lastly one packet of their Wonder Pore Clay mask :)

~

Lastly, I visited MUJI! For those of you who never heard of MUJI; MUJI is a Japanese lifestyle brand. My family and I are big fans of this brand even before this franchise came to Malaysia. We learnt about MUJI years ago over at Bangkok's Central World. The products at MUJI are pricey but I think they are worth it because of the good quality. I'm pretty sure everything they sell in MUJI is made from Japan, after all, it is a Japanese brand :P

Here's what I got!
I've been into Striped t-shirts or blouses lately! Stripes are simple and I look good in stripes :) The fabric is abit thick but it's comfortable and I'm excited to wear this out!

The original price of the t-shirt was RM139.00 as shown above :P But I got a 30% discount, YAYY!

If you ever visit MUJI, and if you're a person who uses or has a thing for pens, you GOTTA try their pens out! Yes, they are pretty expensive for a pen but I really like using them, the quality is great! My sister got a couple of blue pens and I got a more pricey black pen today (RM10.90). I'm going to use this pen to practice my cursive writing :) So excited to use it!

~

That is the end of my Last Day of October or Girls Day Out haul (I just gotta habit of naming or giving something a Title xD)! It was a tiring day out but I'm glad we managed to make some good purchases.

See ya in the month of November! :)

The Return

Hey guys!

It's been 6 months since I last blogged. I feel like a total stranger to Blogger after this long hiatus! So sorry to stop writing. In my last post (in the month of May), I mentioned Blogger trouble. Blogger.com for some reason, won't let me post up stuff, it got me frustrated! While I was gone, I was admitted to the hospital a few times, and there was a lot going on...family issues and hectic days. But I'm glad to be back to Blogger, and hopefully I'll be able to consistently post up new posts and catch up with reading of my followers' blogs.

Truly sorry for abandoning my blog for quite some time...

Blogger Trouble and May Wishlist

Hey guys!

So this is the THIRD post that I've written this month, hopefully this one does not have any problems publishing. I haven't posted up anything since the last post in April, the reason for that is I have some trouble with uploading pictures on to my post. I've had hauls that I wanted to show you guys but I have no idea why my Blogger settings just won't let me upload the pictures! A haul post MUST have pictures :O So I'm very sorry I won't be able to post up any haul updates at the meantime.

We're in the month of May and I cannot stay away from blogging any longer, I want to post something up! So I've prepared a May wishlist, hopefully the pictures are able to load if they're taken from the internet :P My birthday is arriving very soon, it's on the 27th of May by the way :) I'm so excited! And also, right after my birthday, I will be having a 2 week break from school! The second semester is over, so we have 2 weeks of freedom, can't wait :D

I'm thinking of dyeing my hair during the holidays, that, I will talk more about after my wishlist :P

No.1 Item on my wishlist is a...yellow umbrella! My mother and I have been watching the latest Korean drama, 'Love Rain' (this umbrella is also similar to the one Song Hye Kyo had when she was starring in Autumn in My Heart, I love that show too!), and we absolutely love it!
In Love Rain there is a famous scene where both the main characters walk together in the rain under their yellow umbrella, it's become, sort of a special symbol for the Korean drama. I want a similar umbrella to theirs, nothing special, no particular pattern, just plain yellow. Finding a plain yellow umbrella should be pretty easy but it is NOT easy in my country, they sell all kinds of colored umbrellas BUT yellow, which is absurd!

P.S If you know where to get a plain yellow umbrella in Malaysia, please do share with me!:)

Second item on my wishlist is...

A Polaroid camera! Nowadays I've seen so many people own a polaroid camera and snapping adorable pictures of themselves, that really tempted me to get one. I always liked the thought getting your pictures printed as soon as you take them, how cool is that! And aren't Polaroids vintage in a way? :D I must get my hands on anything vintage at all xD

Third and final item is a make-up related item,

I've heard a lot of good reviews and comments on the Balm's blushes, and I'd really really like to try one. I've seen them being sold at cosmetic stores like Sasa, but they are very pricey here in my country! Normally I wouldn't pay that much for a single blush or bronzer, but the Balm's blushes are pretty tempting. I LOVE the packaging, it's absolutely vintage! One of the main reasons why I want it is because of the impressive vintage packaging, I'm a sucker for cute/vintage packaging :P

What's your favorite the Balm blush?

I know this is a pretty short wishlist, but my wishlist grows each time I see something I like, so this is safe to say, incomplete :P But these are some of the items that I'd like to have or try out in the mean time.

Now on to the topic of dyeing my hair. This would be the very first time dyeing my hair, honestly, I'm not someone who's very interested in dyeing my hair. But I'm a bit curious to experience how having colored hair feels like, if that makes any sense. I'd like to change my hairstyle a bit, and I'm not going to cut it as I've already done that last year, now I've decided to grow my hair long again. My sister brought up the topic of dyeing her hair and she's very eager too, so she has made plans to try out Liese's Bubble Hair Dye (the boxed one, and temporary dye). I thought of tagging along and trying it out too, but for some reason I feel nervous (even though this is going to be temporary).

But I AM excited! I've been reading reviews and checking out different colors and trying to decide which color I should give a go.

P.S If anyone of you reading this has dyed your hair (with Liese Bubble Hair Dye), please do leave a comment on what color you dyed and your rough thoughts on the dye.

It's pretty hard to pick which color I want to go with. I'm thinking of staying in the brown series. So far, I'm pretty interested in going with Chestnut Brown, but all of the colors look stunning and beautiful! It's a hard decision for me. Which freaking color should I go with? :/

Let me know on your thoughts on Liese Bubble Hair Color and any suggestions for what color I should go with:)

RANDOM!
Here's a recent picture of me with my Audrey Hepburn *inspired* sketch. It doesn't look one bit like Audrey Hepburn so therefore it is not Audrey Hepburn :P If you have Instagram, follow me: @ms7may. Let me know if you have so I can follow back and check out YOUR pictures:)

Have a WONDERFUL DELIGHTFUL May!
I hope to update with my hauls ASAP :)

March Favorites and Easter Egg Madness!

Hey guys!
Thanks for leaving me awesome comments on my previous post :) It makes my day to read the little messages you leave on my blog <3

Today I decided to do something different, a March Favorites blog post! I've never ever done a monthly favorite blog post before (this is my very first, excited! :D). I'm gonna show the items that I like and have been using a lot last month, they are items in random categories. I plan to do more monthly favorite posts in the future :)

and P.S this is going to be a pretty long post, I've combined my Easter post with the March Favorites. Enjoy! And also, please excuse the quality of my pictures. They're all taken from my iTouch camera (which sucks :P) as my camera lense is still stuck!

First favorite category...Favorite Skincare Products of the Month :)

Etude House Vita Foam Mini- Let's Play and [ならかしわ ダイソー] Narakashiwa Natural Pack Masque (Mask)
I purchased this two items in the beginning of the month and was really hyped up to try them. I was breaking out alot in the beginning of the month and really needed something to prevent acne. I also wanted to try out some new skincare products (which was a bit risky but heck, they both worked well for me).
The Etude House saleslady told me that the Vita Foam Mini-Let's Play could prevent oily skin so I decided to give it a go (I have really oily greasy skin!). This foam contains Vitamin B3 and has a lime mint scent which I don't love but I don't mind it either. I've been using this for a month now and my skin is getting less oily, which means there are some improvements after using this product. Usually after school, my face would get really greasy but nowadays, it's less greasy. I'm quite satisfied with this Vita Foam and would like to try out the other Vita Foams that Etude House sells.
I bought the Narakashiwa Mask at Daiso (for only RM5!! SO CHEAP AND SO EFFECTIVE :D) after reading a review by one of my favorite beauty blogger, Gina. (Check out her blog and her review on this product). I looooove this product so much! It pulls out more blackheads and sebum than a normal blackhead pore strip would. And after applying it, my face feels softer. It's cheap, effective and AMAZING!!

Next category, is favorite accessory/jewelry of March is...
My new friendship necklace! I bought this on an outing (check out the snapshots I took with my buddy, Celina, during our outing here) with my buddy, we were finding for couple items or accessories we could both wear to school together. So I suggested going down to Diva to take a look at their BFF necklaces and we got a pair for ourselves :)

Mine is the exact same like Celina's only my reads 'FRIEND' and her's read 'BEST' (put 'em together and they read BEST FRIEND :D). It's a mini bottle sealed with a cork, inside there are two plastic hearts and a label that reads 'friend', not forgetting a little pink bow tied just right above the bottle. We wanted to insert a little letter for each other inside the bottle but my cork wouldn't come off (tried hard to pull the cork out but was such a FAIL, the cork started crumbling a little!) :( I've been wearing this to school everyday, I think it's so cute ^^
~
Now for my Beauty Category!
1) Etude House Precious Mineral Sheer Silky Skin BB Cream (sample)
2) Etude House Touch Touch Shadow Liner in Vanilla Touch
3) Natural Collection's Blushed Cheeks in Peach Melba
4) UpTown Vision's Duo Eye-shadow in Beauty Queen

I put together 4 favorite makeup items that I've been using frequently last month
. The Etude House BB Cream was actually a sample that I got from my last few visits to Etude House. It's actually only the 2nd BB Cream I've ever tried! It has a nice scent and gives a nice smooth texture for my skin, blends out pretty well too. I may consider buying a full-size bottle next time :)

I've been using Etude House's Vanilla Touch Shadow Liner as a creamy eyeshadow base, it's a very nice creamy color with some shimmer in it, very pretty! Another item that I've been using for my eyes is the Up Town Vision Duo Eye Shadow in Beauty Queen, my dad got it for me at a drugstore sale (first time using Up Town Visions products, first time hearing about it too O__O). I love the brown and brownish-coral-peachy color, I enjoy wearing warm shades (I think it would be good for Fall, although it's Springtime now :P).

My last favorite makeup product is Natural Collection's Blush in Peach Melba (which is actually also a drugstore item that I got from Bangkok from my last trip!). I fell in love with the dark peachy shade, goes great for my skin tone! :)
~

Last category is Favorite Song of March...
Favorite song goes to Ailee's Heaven! Ailee is a new Korean singer, a pretty young talented girl with a powerful voice. She recently debuted with her song, Heaven. I've been listening to this song over and over again throughout the month of March. Her voice is amazing! My sister told me to look up the meaning and lyrics of the song, and the meaning is so beautiful. It's already the month of April and I'm still listening to it over and over again, hard to get sick of it :) Ailee has become one of my favorite talented Kpop singers.
~
You have reached the end of my March Favorites! For the month of March I only showed 4 categories but I'll try to insert more categories in my next monthly favorite post :) Before I sign off, it's time for Easter :D

I spent a lot of time coloring and decorating empty egg shells for Easter this whole week! I posted a little sneak peek of my Easter Eggs in my last post and I shall reveal what's inside the shall when you crack one open! :)

*drumroll*

Unveiled! My adorable yummy Egg-shaped rainbow cake! :) In preparation for Easter this year, Mom, my older sister and I collected egg shells, dyed them with food coloring and filled them with cake batter. These colorful eggs will reveal delicious rainbow cakes once cracked. I had fun making and enjoying them! Gave out some of these eggs to my classmates, they enjoyed cracking them and finding cake inside.

My school organized a small Easter Egg decorating contest yesterday. I was cracking my mind trying to plan what to draw on my egg. I decided to draw a bumblebee to match my yellow background. Here's some pics:

My pal, Celina Bear, took a close-up shot of my bumblebee egg :) I noticed my egg was the smallest among the rest because it's organic :P I meant for my bumblebee shape to be rounder but it came out a bit squarish... but overall, I'm quite happy with it. I decorated the back with sunflowers that I drew with my magic markers (had a hard time preventing my drawing for smudging)

Well that's all for today!
Happy Good Friday :) I hope you've enjoyed reading my blog post. Do leave a comment and maybe submit some suggestions on what Spring color I should paint my nails. Have a great weekend!

Lotsa love,
Lizzy
